EHHPS Feature in the 'Stars' Competition at NWFed Final

The NWFed Final, between Field End and Harrow, takes place on Saturday 23rd February at Amersham. Although EHHPS were knocked out in the Semis, we feature in the competitions for ‘Starred’ imaged from the first round, with eight images - more than any other club. Details of the event here, and all of the starred images listed below:

NWFed Semi Final: Result

External Competitions Secretary Amanda Wright reports:

EHHPS met Field End in the first NWFed Semi-Final, held at Harrow Camera Club on Tuesday, with EHHPS members Paul, Brian, Dennis and Emmanuel defying the inclement weather to join Amanda for the event.

The Judge for the evening was Mark Buckley-Sharp.

The PDI section ended in a draw, with both clubs scoring 162. Ealing’s top scorers were The Fan by Shaun Hodge and Missy Marlene by Karen Helle, both securing the only two 20’s permitted in this competition. Other EHHPS  top scorers were Night Watchman by Emmanuel and Clematis by Ania Taylor, both scoring 19.

Sadly the Print section which preceded was another story, with the total scores being 155 to Ealing and 164.5 to Field End. EHHPS top score was 19 which was awarded to Ania Taylor for Dreamy Pastels and we had three 18’s which were I know, I know and Mauricia by Paul Mason and Poppies by Ania Taylor.

So the dream of a place in the final was not to be,  but at least EHHPS made it to the Semi-Final this year - something we haven’t achieved for some time.

Field End go through to the final and will battle against either Harrow or Wycombe who have their Semi-Final on Thursday at Watford.

The XRR Visions Competition Results are in

Bill Cooper, XRR writes:

At the VISIONS Final last evening, the 226 pre-judged images were shown in two consecutive slideshows. We were then treated to a live critique of the 113 tie-break by our guest judge, Paul Radden LRPS DPAGB EFIAP/b PSA2*.

There was a tie for the Individual competition with Julia Wainwright of Harrow CC and Teresa Hehir of Wycombe PS both on 59 points. Teresa Hehir was declared the winner on the tie-break and received the Trophy from Paul Radden.

There was also a tie in the club competition with Amersham PS, Harrow CC and Maidenhead all on 158 points. Paul Radden chose “Walking the Dog” by Julie Mullings of Amersham PS as the single best image and therefore Amersham PS won the Club Trophy on the tie-break.

The best individual performance from EHHPS was by Shaun Hodge, who came 10th equal out of 113 photographers with Shaun’s image ‘Going Gaga’ his highest scoring at 19 (out of 20). The EHHPS team entry fared less well.

The full results may be viewed here.

Slide shows are being prepared to display the pre-judged images, along with the awarded scores and interim points totals. We look forward to Paul’s critique of the 113 tie-breaker images which will ultimately determine the winner of the VISIONS 2018 individual trophy. In addition, 16 clubs have nominated teams to compete for the VISIONS Club Trophy.

This year’s event will be in the Cedar/Sycamore halls on the ground floor of the Stanborough Centre, 609 St Albans Road, Watford, WD25 9JL. The Centre is on the A412, just 300m north of the A41 Dome roundabout (Asda/Sainsbury’s). There are 120 parking places on-site and ramps for disabled access.
