RPS Successes for John Clare

EHHPS member John Clare, LRPS, has had a double success at the Royal Photographic Society this month. First, his photograph 'Delhi Chai Seller' was chosen as one of just 30 images in the RPS Travel Print Exhibition and is currently on show at RPS HQ in Bath.

Then his image 'Pyramids and Sphinx' was chosen as the Travel Group 'Image of the Month'. It is now the Facebook group's cover page for November

John was also interviewed for his local TV station in Chiswick.

Lawrence Graham-Leigh

Sad news from Amanda Wright about Lawrence, who ran 'Artmaster Gallery' used by many in EHHPS for picture mounting and framing:

"It is with great sadness that I have to announce that Lawrence Graham-Leigh passed away on Friday evening. Although the FB drive to raise money for desperately needed treatment was surpassed, sadly it came too late as Lawrence was by then too ill. He leaves behind a wife and four year old son and was a true gentleman who would always go the extra mile.

RIP Lawrence."

EHHPS Success in the Ron Wake Competition

From Amanda Wright:

Last night was the Ron Wake selection at Harrow for which Ania kindly took in images on my behalf. Seven clubs enter 7 prints each, one per author and 20 were to be selected by judge Roger Reynolds.

EHHPS had 5 images accepted which I think is a first!
Huge Congratulations to

Dennis Durack with I give up
Ania Taylor with Autumn Shades
The Fighter by Mike Lloyd
Time To Go by Michael Jaworski
Form by Paul Paul Mason.

The final of the Ron Wake competition is on Tuesday Sept 6th at Harrow.

EHHPS Exhibition at Questors Theatre

The next EHHPS exhibition of prints will be in the ‘Grapevine’ bar of Questors Theatre in Mattock Lane, Ealing from the 2nd to the 22nd of June.

We estimate there will be space for around 24 prints provided we optimise the mix of portrait and landscape formats so, depending on demand, the opportunity is likely to be limited to one or two prints per member.  Hanging will take place during the day on Thursday 2nd June. On this occasion the framed prints will be hung by wire/cord from the picture rail so frames should have suitable mounting eyes.

The theatre is happy that we attach suitable ‘For Sale’ labels, and also place a sales list on the nearby noticeboard.

Clearly time is short to organise our selection of images. Please contact Amanda Wright via email or phone (07740 303730) with any queries on hanging.  Amanda will also co-ordinate requests for space  - please provide her with titles and pricing for your images.

EHHPS Trip to Highcliffe and Infinity

Amanda Wright penned:

On Wednesday May 4th. Kris and Paul Mason, Phil Dean and myself trundled down to the New Forest for our Annual Highcliffe jaunt. We headed straight to the New Forest taking snaps of the scenery and ponies of course, had a fab pub lunch, more snaps then headed to H & I. The judge this year was Mike Burbeck an RPS judge from Somerset. His vocabulary was varied and comments were mostly accurate, even if he did miss the point on the more creative images. It was a close run thing but EHHPS finally won the day by 1.5 points! Our top scorers in print were Paul Mason with 'Form' and 'Statuesque' by Shaun Hodge both scoring 10 (top marks) Karen Helle with 'Searching For Heathcliff' and Shaun Hodge's 'Cape Vulture' both scored 9.5.
In PDI's 'Pink Dahlia' by Ania Taylor and 'Savannah Elephant' by Amanda Hodge both scored 10 with 'Musing' by Kristin Mason and 'High Flyer' by Shaun Hodge scoring 9.5
Congratulations and big thanks guys!

Still time to book for Highcliffe!

On Wednesday May 4th a group from EHHPS will be travelling down for our annual friendly competition with Highcliffe, shooting on the way down, with photographic opportunities including the New Forest and the Coast.  We will be  staying over, and shooting on the way back, arriving back in Ealing in time to vote and attend the 'Match a Digi' competition on Thursday - a two day Feast of Photography.

For more information, please contact Amanda Wright.

Artisan Exhibition Update

Our exhibition of prints which opened at the Artisan Café on the 19th January runs until 19th April 2016.

We will be changing over some of the prints on Tuesday March the 15th so if you missed out first time around, now is your chance.

Prints, which should be framed and fitted with mirror plates, should be no larger than 50 x 40 cm. - smaller would allow us to display more.  When selecting your images for display, please consider that this is a public cafe and the manager has asked that we do not display nudes or anything which may be deemed offensive to such an audience.  As previously, Amanda is able to offer advice on image selection and assistance with framing if required.

A small group of volunteers is requested to hang the prints, starting at 4.30 p.m. This will include drilling the mounting holes and making good previous drillings.

Please bring your framed prints to the Café. If you are unable to do so, please arrange to get them to Paul or Karen in good time.

Artisan is at 32 New Broadway, Ealing W5 2XA. See here for a map
